There are any numbers of approaches available to help a person deal with and recover from abuse and addiction to drugs and alcohol. The more successful of these, namely the secular Treatment centers and the Christian Treatment facilities, are also the most favored choices amongst those seeking freedom from addiction for themselves or their loved ones. Even between these two choices, studies have shown that the program at a Christian treatment facility, a program that banks on the teachings and tenets of the Christian religion, is much more effective, especially when it comes to helping a person avoid a relapse after coming out of treatment.
So, what is different at these Christ based centers that make them so effective? There are three main reasons for this enhanced effectiveness – spirituality, spirituality and some more spirituality. There is no doubt that the secular treatment program, which is more scientific in nature, is also considered equally effective in ridding a person of his/her addictions.
This is one of the oldest methods and over its long history; it has been able to evolve some very effective techniques to deal with the various aspects of the treatment for addictions. However, where it really falters is in the percentage of addicts relapsing to drugs and alcohol even though being certified as cured after taking treatment at one of their centers. This happens because the centers practicing this treatment method take good care of the physical and psychological aspects of the treatment, but the patients are hardly ever touched in the spirit. Since this program believes more in science and less in faith, either they did not recognize that the realm of the spirit existed in the individual or even if the did, it was not given its due importance.
The abuse and addiction to drugs and alcohol has a differing degree of effect of the individual’s spirit. In the milder and moderate cases of addictions, the long-term use of the addictive substance may or may not have affected the individual in the spirit. However, in the more severe cases the prolonged use of drugs and alcohol almost always leaves behind a spiritual void. Besides, in almost all cases of addictions, there is an underlying spiritual cause behind the person taking to drugs and alcohol in the first place.
Christianity and a lot of other religions also recognize that the realm of the spirit is the highest realm controlling the other two lesser realms of the body and the mind. Hence, if any treatment does not take care of this aspect of the treatment and treats only the physical and psychological symptoms of addiction, it may look as if the patient is cured but in a way it leaves the treatment incomplete. This is the main reason why the secular and other treatment approaches had a much higher rate of relapse.
As opposed to this, the treatment at a Christian treatment facility always lays a special emphasis on the spiritual healing and growth of the individual by way of the various Christian religious activities like the regular church services, the religious counseling sessions with the pastor and the faith counselor and the regular prayer and study sessions of the Bible and other religious scripture. This helps the person develop faith and grow in the spirit. These activities combined with the best techniques of the secular approach to treat the physical and psychological needs of the treatment are what make the Christian treatment program for drug and alcohol addiction the best till date.

In the world of addiction recovery, there are many different ways in which to go about handling and treating drug addiction and alcoholism. Some treatment programs use traditional programs, some use a holistic or natural approach and others use religion and the help of a higher power to reach out to addicts and alcoholics. Regardless of which methods are used, statistics highlight the success and skills of a Christian treatment center which incorporates God, scripture and the tenets of Christianity as the basis for addiction and alcoholism recovery.
While a traditional, holistic or natural approach to drug and alcohol treatment can be helpful for some people, there are still countless others who have tried these methods and failed. It is for those who need a spiritual approach and wish to build a relationship with a higher power that a Christian based drug and alcohol treatment program can provide the solution. With the ability to help the person reach out and accept the help of God, a Christian treatment program many people have found the path to inner peace and personal fulfillment.
Drug addiction and alcoholism are chronic problems and if left untreated a person will delve deeper and deeper into the disease and experience many catastrophic consequences. Drugs and alcohol destroy the health of an addict and can lead to cancer, respiratory distress, infections, organ damage and eventually coma and death can happen. There is never a happy ending to life when a person is stuck in the vicious cycle of addiction or alcoholism, and many people are sadly not able to stop using or drinking without professional help.
Sadly, when it comes time for a person to own up to the problems caused by drug addiction and alcoholism, the results are seldom positive. An addict or alcoholic, when confronted by others will retaliate and react with aggression, fear, guilt and shame. It is not an easy situation to confront and the addict is driven by cravings and dependency and will do whatever is necessary to be able to continue using the drug of choice or drinking alcohol. Some people believe that an addict or alcoholic can control the urges to drink or use drugs; this is not true because addiction is uncontrollable and not even the strongest willed person is unable to stop on their own.
Drug addiction and alcoholism make a person do things and say things out of character and not normal with whom they truly are. Not only is the addict or alcoholic suffering from the problems and agony of addiction, but so are those who love them and want to help. The only way for an addict or alcoholic to get help is for the person to reach a point to where they are capable of admitting the situation is beyond their control. Giving up control of the situation sometimes requires something bad happening in order to serve as a wake-up call for the person. No matter what happened that made the addict or alcoholic decide to seek treatment, the most important thing is that others support and encourage the decision.
A Christian treatment facility can help those addicts or alcoholics who are in desperate need of specialized and unique treatment. Through Bible study, church sessions, 12-step meetings, life skills training, one-on-one therapy and family/group or individual counseling, an addict learns they are not alone and there are those who truly and genuinely want to help. The road to healing is a long and difficult journey, but with the help and grace of God a person can finally experience how good life can be when drug addiction and alcoholism are beaten.
The Bible teaches everything a person needs to know about walking the path God has designed filled with meaning and purpose for their life. Drug addiction and alcoholism takes a person from the path God intended and causes evil consequences and negative events to happen. For a person to truly heal and find their way back to God a Christian drug and alcohol treatment center can point the way and open the doors to a better life for those who seek addiction recovery.
A Christian treatment facility is an asset to the world of addiction recovery and has provided many people with the skills and ability to break the cycle of addiction. Though the journey may be long and the road ahead may be difficult, but with God’s help anything is possible. For an addict or alcoholic who feels that life has lost its meaning, given the right therapy and treatment it is possible to foster a stronger, closer relationship with God and allow him to take the burden of addiction and alcoholism away. Praying and having faith show an addict that there is a life beyond addiction and alcoholism, through working hard and staying committed is the best way to beat the disease and have a better life.
A miracle is possible and even the most severely addicted person can experience a happy ending. Life was not meant to be spent being a slave to drugs and alcohol, God does not want this for any of the sheep of his flock. When trying to overcome addiction or alcoholism, God never deserts a person and is there to light the way to a better, happier, healthier life for those who are willing to remain steadfast and committed to staying clean and sober and walk with him.

It can be very difficult for the family or friends of a person to accept the reality that someone they love has an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Drug addiction or alcoholism starts gradually, maybe a person has a glass of wine or beer to celebrate a special occasion or maybe the person smokes pot or uses cocaine as an occasional recreational activity. The problems truly begin when a person turns to drugs or alcohol more frequently and instead of trying to handle stress or problems, the substance is the preferred method of coping. Addiction or alcoholism happens quickly and despite what many people think the problems are very common and can happen to anyone.
The friends and family of an addict might have become so accustomed to the addiction or alcoholism they do not know how to help the person. Or it is possible those who love the alcoholic or addict may have tried to confront the person only to be met with denial, aggression or anger. It can be disastrous to try and handle the situation without the benefit of professional help and the results can be a delay in the person receiving the treatment so vitally needed. People who love an addict or alcoholic realize how important it is for the person to give up drinking or using drugs, but the addict does not see it that way. Many times a person will not quit using or drinking until something terrible happens, and then it is too late.
How a Christian treatment facility helps people is through instilling self-worth and trust within the client and care provider. Providing a high standard of treatment and attention for each person allows a faith based program to handle many different types of drug addiction and alcoholism. Because it can be difficult and complex to treat drug addiction and alcoholism, a faith based treatment program designs a plan of action and care suited to meet the individual needs of each and every person. While many facilities approach treatment from a standard viewpoint, not having a personalized program increases the risk of failing at getting and staying clean and sober.
Christian drug and alcohol treatment programs boast a high rate of success for many different reasons. People who enroll in a faith based treatment program can expect compassion, respect and acceptance provided by caring and skilled medical specialists and rehabilitation professionals. It is common for an addict or alcoholic to feel like a failure, harbor a sense of self-loathing and believe nobody cares or understands. Until a person finds the right treatment program and begins the healing process, such feelings are a normal part of life and make giving up drugs and alcohol even more difficult.
Few drug and alcohol rehabilitation and treatment centers can match the understanding and compassion shown by a faith based program. The medical experts and rehabilitation staff at a faith based program understand that healing from drug addiction and alcoholism requires the assistance of a higher power. Working closely with each and every patient and showing the person they are not alone in the struggles proves to motive many in treatment to work harder to succeed. It is hard for some people to understand that even though a person is receiving treatment for alcoholism or drug addiction, relapse can and does happen. It is very important for a recovery patient to not give up when experiencing a set back or relapse, working harder is the only way a person can truly find the strength and fortitude needed to break the cycle of addiction once and for all.
A Christian treatment facility provides an addict with pastoral counseling, prayer meetings, group/individual/family counseling, cognitive behavioral therapies, life skills training, 12-step meetings, church sessions and much more. The services and programs offered are centered on putting the focus on God being the higher power through which all things are possible, including addiction recovery. There is never judgment, ridicule or shame heaped onto someone seeking the help of a faith based drug and alcohol rehab program, only acceptance, fellowship and forgiveness wait.
There are many different ways to approach drug addiction and alcoholism treatment, but the one that works best for many is a Christian treatment facility. During the struggles and temptations that come from drug and alcohol addiction a person needs a strong support network, effective treatment and the ability to turn away from drugs and turn towards God. With a sincere heart, honest desire and a strong foundation in God, any person suffering from addiction can find the path to a better life and leave drugs and alcohol behind.
